The 3 Most Common SEO Mistakes We See Law Firms Making On Their Website
When a law firm begins working with an SEO agency that specialises in the legal industry like ours, the first couple of weeks are spent analysing that firm’s website and researching ways for them to generate more organic traffic.
Throughout this process, we uncover issues that are limiting their SEO potential and quite often, we see the same mistakes being made.
Below is a list of the 3 most common SEO mistakes we see.
1. Duplicate Page Titles
This mistake is equal part lack of strategy and equal part laziness. If you have 20 web pages on your website, all 20 should have unique, keyword relevant and compelling page titles.
Page titles have a lot of influence over how Google understands your site and if all the page titles are the same, it may only rank only 1 page and consider the rest duplicates. That’s bad.
2. Not Having Enough Web Pages
We explored this in depth yesterday in a live video (comment WEB PAGES below and I’ll tag you in the video).
In summary, Google ranks every page on your site individually. Considering that each page can only rank for a small group of keywords, building more pages will allow you to rank for more of them – opening you up to more traffic and more fee-paying clients.
3. Lack of Internal Linking
Internal linking is important for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, as a user, it helps guide you through the site. If a user is reading a blog and they see a text link “Criminal Law Services”, it is easy to understand that clicking it will lead to a page with more info about your services.
Additionally (and more relevant to SEO), if the source page has a lot of authority with Google, an internal link from that page can be just as useful for rankings as a backlink from a valuable website.
