Case Study On what Not To Do With Backlinks
As you’ve probably heard me talk about in some of my content – backlinks are gold for building domain authority, which leads to rankings and fee-paying clients for law firms.
There was a time that you could just get any old backlink from any website and it would improve your results on Google.
So, what people did was get BULK backlinks… and it would work.
But unfortunately, those days are gone and Google now looks at if the website linking to you is relevant to your industry, if it has domain authority itself and even how the link is worded.
Basically, they’re looking for quality over quantity.
This has never been more evident to us at Tondo Digital than in the past 2 weeks.
In that time, we’ve taken on a new client that is being limited by Google because of spammy backlinks and audited a website that has barely any traffic regardless of having a lot of backlinks.
Example #1
- 7,000 backlinks
- 120 monthly users
Example #2
- 11,000 backlinks
- 21 monthly
Both of these websites have a lot of content and the firms themselves have been in the game for a while. With the number of backlinks they have, the expected traffic for these sites is 100x what they’re currently getting.
So, in summary, it’s only really worth getting high-quality backlinks these days.
